Gustavo Gordillo faces scrutiny over Brooklyn home owned by parents
Gustavo Gordillo, the 38-year-old co-chair of the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), is facing criticism regarding his living situation in Brooklyn. Property records indicate that Gordillo resides in a nearly 2,000-square-foot row home in Bedford-Stuyvesant that was purchased in 2019 for just under $1 million by Chucuito LLC, an entity linked to his parents.
Since the purchase, the property has undergone extensive renovations, including facade work, interior improvements, landscaping, and the addition of two decks. Gordillo’s father confirmed the arrangement, stating that the LLC purchased the home and his sons both live there.
The scrutiny stems from the contrast between Gordillo’s personal living arrangements and his political advocacy. As a DSA leader, Gordillo has campaigned for the redistribution of land from landowners to the landless and has criticized the right of landlords to earn high returns on property investments.
