McCall argued that these revelations, alongside allegations of unpaid rent at a separate property and questions regarding Gordillo’s reported work history in blue-collar trades, undermine the organization’s platform of advocating for the working class.

The controversy has drawn attention from conservative media outlets, which have characterized the situation as a contradiction between Gordillo’s political rhetoric against wealth inequality and his own financial advantages.
