Gustavo Kumiega arrested in Chaco for sexual abuse and malpractice

Gustavo Kumiega, a gynecologist in Resistencia, Chaco, has been arrested following multiple allegations of sexual abuse and medical malpractice. The arrest was ordered by prosecutor Mariana Echarri after simultaneous raids were conducted at his private clinic, FEMEChaco, his home, and his private office.

Kumiega faces several criminal complaints. In addition to investigations into medical malpractice, he is being investigated for sexual abuse involving at least seven patients who reported inappropriate sexual comments and physical maneuvers during gynecological exams. Furthermore, an ex-partner has accused him of sexual abuse occurring outside of a medical context.

One complainant, Jésica Ramírez, detailed an incident where the doctor allegedly performed an ultrasound without gloves and made inappropriate physical contact. Authorities are currently evaluating whether the various judicial files against the specialist will be unified into a single investigation.
