Gustavo Miranda emerges as PAN’s contender in Quintana Roo elections

Gustavo Miranda García has reached an agreement with national PAN leader Jorge Romero Herrera, positioning himself to run for the mayoralty of Benito Juárez municipality, a federal deputy seat or a Senate seat in Quintana Roo. Party insiders describe him as a “black horse” in PAN’s effort to rebuild and challenge the ruling Morena government in the state.

Miranda, previously linked to the Green Party and real‑estate controversies, has shifted to a hard‑right PAN stance and even travelled to the United States for political outreach, seeking support against the policies of the 4T administration. He plans to highlight security concerns, incidents involving U.S. citizens, and alleged child‑sexual‑exploitation problems in Quintana Roo. His candidacy’s future may depend on the outcome of the Green Party’s gubernatorial contest and internal PAN deliberations, including reports that former PAN chief Dante Delgado declined to endorse him.

The developments signal a possible re‑orientation of PAN’s candidate slate ahead of upcoming local and federal elections in the region.
