Gustavo Petro confronted by Venezuelan officials in Mexico
During the XXX International Seminar ‘Political Parties and a New Society’ held in Mexico, former Colombian President Gustavo Petro engaged in a heated confrontation with Venezuelan officials.
Petro sparked the dispute by discussing Venezuelan oil and making comments regarding Donald Trump. He suggested that Trump’s claims about acquiring Venezuelan oil as a ‘spoils of war’ were truthful. He also made claims regarding the death of 32 Cuban military personnel during a military operation against Venezuela.
Jesús Farías, a representative of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), interrupted the former president, calling his statements lies and demanding he show dignity and tell the truth. Additionally, Venezuelan deputy Tania Díaz confronted Petro, accusing him of having prior knowledge of the military operation against Venezuela and remaining silent.
