Gustavo Petro denies romance with Gabriela Muñoz amid political controversy

Former Colombian President Gustavo Petro has addressed the growing controversy surrounding Gabriela Muñoz, a young woman recently identified as a coordinator for the progressive movement's communication strategies. Petro denied rumors of a romantic relationship with Muñoz and reported that she has received death threats within her university.

Muñoz's rising prominence has caused friction among supporters of the 'petrismo' movement. Some activists have criticized her role, questioning her influence and citing previous controversies regarding her past work with the Civil Aviation Authority (Aerocivil).

In his defense of Muñoz, Petro clarified their connection, stating that her family has historical ties to the M-19 guerrilla group through her grandfather and mother. He maintained that his acquaintance with her began through her professional contracts with the government.
