Gustavo Rocha receives MPF support for Federal District Vice-Governor candidacy

The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) has withdrawn its challenge against Gustavo Rocha’s candidacy for Vice-Governor of the Federal District. Rocha, representing the Republicanos party, is running on the ticket alongside Celina Leão (PP).

The initial challenge was based on a Supreme Federal Court (STF) hearing minute that incorrectly identified Rocha as the Secretary of the Civil House during a period that violated mandatory de-incompatibility deadlines. However, Minister Luiz Fux corrected the document on the same day, clarifying that Rocha was present only as an observer.

Regional Electoral Prosecutor Francisco Guilherme Vollstedt Bastos acknowledged the error, noting that the corrected record carries public faith and is supported by photographic evidence showing Rocha did not take a seat at the discussion table. With the MPF now favoring the registration, the case moves to the Regional Electoral Court of the Federal District (TRE-DF) for a final decision. The Federação Brasil da Esperança (PT/PCdoB/PV) has also challenged the registration.
