Gustavo Scaglione leaves Rosario for Buenos Aires due to security concerns
Media mogul Gustavo Scaglione, owner of the prominent Rosario newspaper La Capital, has decided to relocate his family to Buenos Aires due to security concerns. According to journalist Roberto Caferra, Scaglione stated, “I am not returning to Rosario until they guarantee my security.”
The decision follows an escalation of violence linked to the intense rivalry between local football clubs Newell’s Old Boys and Rosario Central. During a recent match at the Coloso del Parque, banners were displayed in the stands containing messages directed at La Capital, accusing the outlet of complicity and silence.
Scaglione’s departure highlights a perceived disconnect between the security situation reported by his own media outlets and the reality faced by the businessman. Former provincial Security Minister Marcelo Sain commented on the situation via social media, noting the contradiction between the media's previous characterizations of Rosario and the current exodus of its prominent figures.
