Gut microbiota and yoga posture improve digestion
An imbalance in the gut microbiota, known as dysbiosis, can weaken the intestinal barrier and trigger inflammation throughout the body. Restoring a diverse microbial community is promoted through regular consumption of prebiotic fiber—found in foods such as bananas, yuca, and potatoes—and fermented products like natural yogurt and kefir, while limiting ultra‑processed foods, refined sugars, and trans fats.
Constipation, a common digestive problem, often stems from low fiber intake, insufficient water, sedentary habits or certain medications. Symptoms include infrequent, hard stools and painful effort during evacuation. In addition to medical treatment, the deep‑squat yoga pose (Malasana) is suggested to open the hips, relax the pelvic area and stimulate intestinal movement, though it should be practiced under guidance.
