Gutenberg Museum: Mainz and Rheinland-Pfalz discuss joint sponsorship
The city of Mainz has announced progress regarding the future of the Gutenberg Museum. During a recent information evening, Mayor Nino Haase stated that concrete discussions are underway with the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, which has signaled a willingness to enter into a joint sponsorship agreement for the project.
To address previous concerns regarding financial stability and the potential for an organizational fiasco, officials have implemented cost-cutting measures for the new ‘World Museum of Printing Arts.’ After reviewing 30 different measures, 18 were implemented, reducing the estimated construction costs from approximately 110 million euros to roughly 89.9 million euros. Additionally, certain architectural elements, such as a planned roof terrace, have been removed from the construction plans to optimize the budget.
