Gutsy targets European dog food market with 33 million meal goal
Belgian company Gutsy, which originated as a student project at Ghent University, is expanding its presence in the premium pet food market. The company aims to become a major European player, targeting the delivery of over 33 million meals to dogs across Western and Northern Europe within the next five years.
Co-founder Jack Lathouwers states that the company focuses on ingredient transparency and local Belgian production to differentiate itself from large international competitors like Purina and Royal Canin. Gutsy currently employs seven full-time staff and has expanded its product line to include snacks, supplements, and grooming products. The brand has established a distribution network through retailers such as Aveve, Horta, and Tom&Co.
