IWAI hosts fourth Brahmaputra Calling quiz in Guwahati

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), Assam, hosted the fourth edition of the ‘Brahmaputra Calling - Open India Quiz’ at Royal Global University in Guwahati. Held as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the event focused on the theme ‘India’s Rivers, Waterways & Seafaring Heritage.’

The competition drew 103 teams from various regions, including the Northeast, New Delhi, and Kolkata. The quiz aimed to highlight India’s historical and cultural connections to its rivers and maritime traditions.

Historian and author Professor Hindol Sengupta attended as the chief guest, noting that the Brahmaputra and other Indian rivers have significantly shaped the nation’s economic and civilizational history. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in reconnecting younger generations with the country’s heritage.
