Guwahati nightclub assault: 7 arrested after woman allegedly stripped and beaten

Guwahati nightclub assault The Locals Cafe and Lounge Khanapara Assam Police Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

Seven people, including the manager and event manager of The Locals Cafe and Lounge in Khanapara, Guwahati, have been arrested following the alleged assault and partial stripping of a woman at the nightclub. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, was captured on video and circulated widely on social media.

CCTV footage reportedly shows the victim being assaulted inside the bar around 2:30 AM before being dragged by her hair and clothes toward the basement, where the assault continued and she appeared to become semi-conscious. Police have registered a suo motu case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Investigators found that the establishment was operating past its permitted closing time of 12:30 AM and had failed to report the incident to local authorities. While a security guard claimed the confrontation began after the woman allegedly hit a female bouncer with a beer bottle, police are still verifying the full sequence of events. The identity of the victim has not yet been established.
