Guwahati to host inaugural International Marathon in February 2027

The inaugural Guwahati International Marathon is scheduled to take place on February 7, 2027. Announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, the event aims to establish Guwahati and the state of Assam as a global destination for sports tourism and fitness.

Promoted by PMG Sports LLP, the marathon is expected to attract approximately 12,000 participants from India and abroad. The competition will feature various race categories, including a full 42.195 km marathon, a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and 1.5 km runs. Organizers have announced a prize pool of ₹1.25 crore to attract elite international and domestic long-distance runners.

The event will be supported by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) as the State Sponsor, with TOPCEM Cement serving as an Associate Sponsor. Indian badminton star P.V. Sindhu will serve as the brand ambassador. The race course is planned to start and finish at Judges Field, passing through locations such as Guwahati University and the Kumar Verma Setu.
