Guy Barnett appointed President of Birmingham Law Society

Guy Barnett has been sworn in as the 134th President of the Birmingham Law Society (BLS). Formally assuming office at the Society’s annual general meeting on September 24, Barnett aims to strengthen the organization’s connection to the legal community across the West Midlands.

Barnett, a former partner at Blakemores Solicitors who previously served as the Society’s interim chief executive, has outlined a presidential agenda centered on four themes: advance, connect, engage, and make a difference. His priorities include enhancing member representation, strengthening the Council and its committees, and launching a fundraising campaign for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

With Calum Nisbet appointed as the new Chief Executive, Barnett intends to focus on ensuring the Society serves as a strong voice for the profession. He will be succeeded next year by Vice President Sabina Kauser.
