Guy Roux attends funeral of former minister François Patriat

Guy Roux, the former iconic coach of AJ Auxerre, made a rare public appearance on Tuesday, August 26, 2026, in Semur-en-Auxois to attend the funeral of François Patriat.

Patriat, a former Minister of Agriculture and Senator for Côte-d’Or, passed away on August 19 at the age of 83 following a serious cycling accident in July. The funeral service was held at the Notre-Dame collegiate church in Semur-en-Auxois, attended by numerous political figures, including President Emmanuel Macron.

At 87 years old, Roux has maintained a very private life in recent years. His presence was noted as a tribute to his close friend and a prominent figure in the Bourgogne region. Patriat was a dedicated supporter of AJ Auxerre and served as the president of the Bourgogne regional council from 2004 to 2015, where he worked to support high-level sports in the area.
