Guyana Amazon Warriors defeat Trinbago Knight Riders in WCPL

The Guyana Amazon Warriors kept their Women’s Caribbean Premier League playoff hopes alive with a 25-run victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders.

In the first innings, the Amazon Warriors reached 119 for 8. Shermaine Campbelle contributed 31 runs off 28 balls, while 17-year-old Eboni Brathwaite provided a quick cameo of 13 runs. The Knight Riders' bowling attack, led by Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey, applied significant pressure during the death overs, claiming wickets from Campbelle, Nadine de Klerk, and Chloe Tryon.

In response, the Amazon Warriors' bowling unit dominated the power play. Shabnim Ismail and Shamillia Connell dismantled the Knight Riders' top order, leaving the team at 22 for 5 within the first six overs. Key batters including Laura Harris, Marizanne Kapp, Deandra Dottin, Jannillea Glasgow, and Yastika Bhatia were all dismissed early. Despite efforts from Madeline Penna, the Knight Riders were restricted to 94 for 9.
