Guyana and Field Museum renew scientific partnership

The government of Guyana and the Chicago-based Field Museum of Natural History have signed a new memorandum of understanding to extend a scientific partnership that has existed since the 1920s. The agreement was finalized during the Global Biodiversity Alliance Conference in Georgetown.

Under the new agreement, conservation experts from the Field Museum will collaborate with Guyanese counterparts on research, rapid biodiversity inventories, and the establishment of conservation areas. The partnership aims to use scientific research to drive environmental action and protect the country's natural heritage.

Additionally, the Villars Institute signed a Letter of Intent at the conference. The Swiss foundation intends to facilitate dialogue between local and global investors to position Guyana as a nature-positive destination for investment.
