Guyana and Ghana report tourism arrival gains in 2025‑2026

Guyana recorded 40,149 visitor arrivals in May, a 20.6% increase over the same month the year before and the strongest May performance in the country's history. The United States supplied the largest share of tourists at 37%, followed by the Caribbean (33%) and other regions. Tourism Minister Susan Rodrigues said the growth underscores tourism’s expanding contribution to national development.

Ghana’s 2025 tourism report showed a modest 1.4% rise in international arrivals to 1.31 million, with domestic travel and business visitors driving the increase. Business travel accounted for 31% of arrivals, and cruise tourism added 18 ship calls and 5,488 passengers. Authorities highlighted the sector’s resilience and plans to boost ecotourism, heritage travel and conference markets.

Both countries view the upward trend as a sign of sectoral resilience amid a challenging global environment.
