Guyana and Saint Lucia engage in regional energy and health summits

Guyana's Prime Minister Mark Phillips is set to attend the 56th Meeting of Ministers of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) in the Dominican Republic. Accompanied by Guyana Energy Agency CEO Dr. Mahender Sharma, Phillips will present priorities for a diversified and reliable energy system aligned with the Low Carbon Development Strategy 2030. Key focus areas include natural gas, renewable energy, grid modernization, and expanding electricity access to Indigenous and hinterland communities.

Separately, a Saint Lucian health delegation led by Minister Moses Jn. Baptiste attended the 53rd COHSOD-Health meeting and the 63rd Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington, DC. Discussions centered on pandemic preparedness, non-communicable diseases, and climate change impacts on health. The delegation also engaged in bilateral talks regarding health security and antimicrobial resistance management.
