Guyana becomes UK’s largest CARICOM trading partner

Guyana has emerged as the United Kingdom’s largest trading partner within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). This shift is driven by Guyana’s rapid economic expansion, particularly in the oil and gas sectors, alongside growth in agriculture, mining, and finance.

In 2025, Guyana’s total exports reached US$24.3 billion, representing an 8.8% increase from 2024 and a massive 472.8% increase compared to 2021. Mineral fuels, including oil, accounted for US$18.3 billion, or 75.5% of the country’s total export value. Other significant export categories include gems and precious metals, valued at US$5.1 billion.

The United States remains Guyana’s largest individual export market, receiving 27.6% of its products, followed by Belgium at 15.9% and the United Kingdom at 9.7%. The British Chamber of Commerce Guyana is actively working to facilitate bilateral trade, supporting British companies entering the Guyanese market and assisting Guyanese businesses in expanding into the UK.
