Guyana organizations observe Youmun-Nabi and conclude ERC Harmony Tour

Guyanese organizations have issued messages of observance for Youmun-Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad. The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) and the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) both extended greetings to the Muslim community, emphasizing values of mercy, justice, and compassion as essential for national harmony and social progress.

In a related effort to promote interfaith understanding, the ERC concluded the Berbice leg of its Harmony Tour on August 21, 2026. The tour involved 49 participants, including 46 children, who visited various religious sites in Region Six, such as the New Amsterdam Central Jama Masjid, Cumberland Shri Krishna Mandir, the Church of the Nazarene, and the historic Cumberland Eidgah. The initiative aimed to encourage participants to learn about different religious traditions and customs to strengthen community relations.
