Guyana regional hospitals record 145,000 outpatient visits

Guyana’s six new regional hospitals have recorded more than 145,000 outpatient visits since being commissioned, according to President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali. The facilities include Diamond, Enmore, Lima, Number 75, Bath, and De Kinderen regional hospitals.

Data released by the President indicates that the hospitals have managed over 18,500 inpatient admissions, approximately 3,700 surgeries, and more than one million laboratory tests. Diagnostic services include roughly 82,200 X-rays, 37,700 ultrasounds, and 13,680 CT scans. Additionally, the facilities have seen over 101,000 specialist clinic attendances and approximately 2,400 baby deliveries.

President Ali noted that the average waiting time for emergency care is approximately 10 minutes, while outpatient services average 30 minutes. He stated that these investments have “revolutionised health care” in the country, despite acknowledging ongoing challenges within the broader healthcare system.
