Guyana road project at Cummings Lodge reaches 75% completion
The 1,800-metre reinforced-concrete road programme in the Cummings Lodge Housing Scheme is 75% complete, according to the Ministry of Housing. The project aims to provide a direct connection between the residential area and the Aubrey Barker four-lane highway.
Currently, the scheme is primarily accessed through Red Road in ‘E’ Field, Sophia. The new infrastructure will link the development to the Ogle–Eccles, Mandela–Eccles, and Heroes highways, as well as the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge, facilitating travel toward the East Coast, East Bank, and Region Three.
Housing Minister Collin Croal stated that the eastern access is partially open, with all vehicle types expected to use that end within a week. The western end of the project is projected to be completed within two weeks.
