Guyana to host 2027 CARIFTA Track and Field Championships

Guyana is preparing to host the 54th edition of the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA) Track and Field Championships in 2027. Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) President Sheryl Hermonstine announced that the host nation intends to field a significantly larger contingent than in previous years, with a goal of approximately 60 athletes.

To support this increased representation, the AAG has developed a preparation plan that includes bi-monthly training camps starting in September. The Education Ministry has also coordinated competition dates, including the Inter-Schools Championships in October and the Nationals Secondary Schools’ Championships scheduled for March 3-5, 2027, at the Bayrock National Stadium.
