Guyana to implement mandatory online passport appointment system

Guyana is transitioning to a mandatory online-only passport application and appointment system effective October 1. Under the new framework, applicants must complete their applications and schedule appointments via the official Guyana Police Force portal before visiting an immigration office.

Senior Superintendent Stephen Telford, Deputy Chief Immigration Officer, stated that the system is designed to provide convenience by allowing citizens to select their preferred office and a time that suits them, while simultaneously reducing overcrowding at service centers. The rollout will affect seven passport offices, including locations in Camp Street, Leonora, Anna Regina, Berbice, Cotton Field, West Central Mall, Fort Wellington, Port Mourant, Linden, and the Region 9 Business Incubators Centre.

While standard processing typically takes three working days, expedited services remain available for 24-hour turnaround, and certain documents may be processed in as little as 30 minutes. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent websites and to use only the official URL: pp.gpf.gov.gy.
