Guyana to launch nationwide digital house lot identification system
The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) will implement a new geo-referencing system for house lot identification across Guyana starting in November 2026. Announced by Minister of Housing Collin Croal during a visit to Bartica, the initiative aims to prevent disputes caused by individuals constructing homes on incorrectly identified land.
Under the new digital transformation agenda, CH&PA surveyors will use tablets to record precise coordinates and photographic evidence for each lot. Allottees will be required to provide a digital signature to acknowledge they have been shown their specific parcel of land. This data will be stored in a digital registry to enhance transparency, accountability, and service delivery while allowing beneficiaries to obtain copies of their lot coordinates for future reference.
