Guyana VP Jagdeo Holds Linden Public Day Despite Protest

Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo conducted a public outreach event in Linden, Region 10, on August 4, meeting with residents at the Watooka Guest House. Hundreds of locals attended, discussing concerns such as housing, land leases and public assistance, and engaged one‑on‑one with government ministers and officials.

Opposition leader Azruddin Mohamed and supporters staged a protest outside the venue, attempting to disrupt the event. Jagdeo said the protest “failed miserably” and did not deter the large turnout. He emphasized that residents were more focused on daily issues than politics and reiterated the government’s commitment to resolve these matters nationwide, adding that the administration would not be “distracted by extraneous noise.”
