Guyana's Raekwon Noel breaks CAC Games record with double gold

Swimmer Raekwon Noel captured two gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He won the men’s 200 m individual medley in 1:59.35, shattering the previous Games record and becoming the first Guyanese swimmer to break the two‑minute barrier in the event. The following day he added a second gold in the 200 m butterfly, posting a time of 1:56.82.

Guyana’s National Sports Commission, represented by Director of Sports Steve Ninvalle, praised Noel’s achievement, noting the athlete’s steady improvement and the role of the commission’s support programmes. Ninvalle said the performance would inspire young athletes across the country and expressed confidence that Noel would add more medals before the Games conclude.
