Guyana's Region 10 attracts over G$8 billion in private investment
Guyana’s Office for Investment (GO-Invest) announced that Region 10 has secured more than G$8 billion in approved private investment between 2020 and 2026. This investment has resulted in the creation of hundreds of jobs across various sectors, with local investors accounting for the majority of the agreements.
Chief Investment Officer Peter Ramsaroop stated during an engagement in Linden that the region is transitioning into a hub for manufacturing, transport, logistics, and production. This development aims to connect Guyana’s coast and interior with northern Brazil. Key growth areas include dairy production, soy and corn cultivation, agro-processing, bauxite-related activities, tourism, and business process outsourcing (BPO).
To sustain this momentum, GO-Invest plans to enhance investor aftercare and identify local supply opportunities. The agency intends to match the demand of major companies within the region to local entrepreneurs to ensure economic activity remains within Region 10.
