Guyancourt implements street art to enhance school zone safety

In Guyancourt, France, a new initiative titled ‘Sécurité École by Art’ has transformed pedestrian crossings and school surroundings into artistic murals to improve road safety. Supported by the Fondation Renault and implemented by the company PALM, the project aims to alert motorists and encourage slower driving speeds through visual disruption.

Artist Alfred Zewip led the creation of the murals on Rue Jules-Michelet, near the Ariane college and several school groups. The artwork incorporates geometric shapes and colors inspired by drawings made by local children, focusing on themes of sport and biodiversity. The resulting visual landscape includes elements such as a sea bird and typographic details designed to beautify the area while serving as a functional safety measure.
