Guzman y Gomez rolls out proprietary kitchen management software
Guzman y Gomez (GYG) has developed and rolled out its own in-house Order Management System to improve kitchen accuracy and reduce customer wait times. The software is currently operational in more than 250 kitchens following a recent rollout.
Chief Technology Officer Bryce Maybury stated that the company decided to build its own platform after a two-year assessment of external vendors, which failed to meet the specific requirements of GYG’s fresh-food kitchens. The system calculates precise preparation times for individual orders, accounting for specific customizations such as ingredient substitutions.
A key feature of the software is its ability to balance workloads across parallel kitchen production lines. By automatically distributing orders based on complexity and staff skill levels, the system reduces the need for manual decision-making by crew members and aims to ensure promised pickup times are met.
