Güven Bengihan warns of security and labor issues in Northern Cyprus

Güven Bengihan, President of the Cyprus Federation of Workers and Emigrants (KİEF) and the Cyprus Turkish Public Servants Union (KTAMS), has criticized the current government in Northern Cyprus for failing to maintain public safety. Bengihan cited rising crime rates, increased prisoner numbers, traffic accidents, and money laundering as evidence that the country is no longer secure.

Bengihan also warned of a potential strike starting September 16 if critical shortages in court personnel, vehicles, and buildings are not addressed by September 15. Additionally, he expressed opposition to holding local and general elections on the same day, warning it could lead to chaos. He further alleged that the government plans to engage in partisan hiring of approximately 200 temporary employees across political parties, which he claims undermines meritocracy and youth opportunities.
