Gävleborgspartiet calls for political unity to improve healthcare staffing

The Gävleborgspartiet is calling for political unity, or ‘borgfred’, to address staffing shortages in regional health centers. The party seeks to move past partisan disputes regarding the organization and management of these facilities to focus on recruiting more doctors and nurses and reducing reliance on expensive locum doctors.

Din Hälsocentral AB, a company managing 25 health centers that began operations in February, has successfully recruited six new doctors. Leif Eriksson, chairman of Gävleborgspartiet, suggests that politicians must agree on a recruitment action plan involving salary settings and continuing education, with a goal of reaching a ratio of 1,100 patients per doctor.

Eriksson also proposed forming a board for the company composed of collaborative politicians and emphasized the need for cooperation between the 25 centers managed by Din Hälsocentral AB and the 16 centers operated by other providers, including Capio, Praktikertjänst, Falck, Sjöstadsdoktorn, and Prima.
