Gwalior police arrest two in dating app honeytrap and extortion case

In Gwalior, a 28-year-old man was targeted in a honeytrap scheme after connecting with individuals on the Grinder dating app. The victim was lured to the Golden Leaf hotel in Patel Nagar, where he was held hostage by five men.

The suspects, posing as Crime Branch officers, reportedly assaulted the victim with belts and filmed obscene videos of him to use for blackmail. Under threat of being implicated in false criminal cases and having the videos leaked, the victim was coerced into paying approximately 1.38 lakh rupees through a combination of cash, ATM withdrawals, and online QR code transfers. The group also reportedly extorted 70,000 rupees from the victim's friend.

Following a complaint, the Gwalior Crime Branch arrested two suspects, identified as Haribhan and Sonu Gurjar, from Morena. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the roles of the other involved individuals.
