Gwanak-gu launches support program for youth leaving welfare facilities
Gwanak-gu has launched ‘Joyakdol’, a specialized support project designed to assist young adults transitioning from child welfare facilities into independent community life. To implement this initiative, the district signed a business agreement with the Dongmyeong Child Welfare Center and Sangnok Orphanage.
The program provides integrated case management covering essential areas such as housing, finance, employment, and psychological well-being. The process involves a collaborative framework where welfare facilities identify eligible youth and share basic information with the district. Gwanak-gu then conducts initial consultations and needs assessments to create personalized support plans.
A key feature of the project is its emphasis on long-term follow-up. Rather than providing one-time assistance, the district, local community centers, and welfare facilities will work together to monitor the progress of these young adults and re-intervene if new difficulties arise, aiming to build a sustainable local safety net.
