Gwangju experiences sharp temperature drop
Temperatures in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, have dropped significantly, with morning lows reaching between 0 and 10 degrees Celsius. This sudden chill is attributed to cold air moving south from the northwest, causing a large temperature gap of approximately 15 degrees Celsius between day and night in inland areas.
Weather authorities have issued warnings regarding frost in inland regions, advising farmers to take precautions to protect crops. Additionally, high waves and strong winds are expected along the southern coast and Jeju Island, prompting warnings for maritime activities and coastal safety.
In response to the cooling weather, local retailers such as Gwangju Shinsegae are seeing increased demand for autumn and winter apparel. Major fashion brands, including New Balance, Columbia, and Nordisk, have introduced lightweight padding and fleece products to meet consumer needs for seasonal transitional clothing.
