Gwangju International Art Fair to open September 22

The 17th Gwangju International Art Fair (Art Gwangju) is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 25 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center. This major art event in the Honam region features 94 galleries from 12 countries, including France, Japan, the United States, Germany, Spain, and Singapore, operating a total of 113 booths.

The fair includes several special exhibitions. The ‘Heroes of Contemporary Art’ exhibition will showcase works by world-renowned masters such as Yayoi Kusama, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and David Hockney. The ‘Rising Star’ exhibition will highlight emerging young artists from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, while the ‘Propose’ exhibition will present works from local collectors paired with high-end imported furniture.

Visitors can participate in various programs, including docent-led tours, kids' art experiences, and access to a collectors' lounge and art bar. The event marks the first Art Gwangju held following the launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
