Gwangju Public Diplomacy Corps promotes Korean culture in San Antonio

Eleven members of the Gwangju Public Diplomacy Corps, an international exchange program operated by the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City and the Gwangju International Exchange Center, visited San Antonio, Texas, from October 27 to November 2.

During the seven-day visit, participants engaged in various cultural activities to promote the region and Korean traditions. At the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Kimchi Festival, the group operated a promotional booth featuring activities such as Hanbok experiences, mother-of-pearl crafts, traditional games, and making Korean name stamps.

The delegation also visited Alamo Colleges District, St. Mary’s University, and the San Antonio King Sejong Institute to interact with local students. The program facilitated connections between the participants and local Korean community organizations, including the Korean American Association and the Honam Alumni Association, to foster sustainable, citizen-led international exchange.
