Gwangmyeong City begins pilot operation of Women Plus Center

Gwangmyeong City has announced the pilot operation of the Women Plus Center, starting October 22. Located on the fourth floor of the Gwangmyeong 3-dong Public Complex, the 1,150-square-meter facility serves as the city’s second dedicated space for women’s communication and culture.

The center is designed to provide rest and cultural activities for women and citizens facing the stresses of housework, childcare, and professional life. Key facilities include the ‘Nanum Learning Room’ for arts and education, a women-only ‘Rest Space’ featuring foot baths and a dry sauna, and the ‘Maeum Ieum Room’ for individual, group, and couple counseling. Other amenities include ‘Ai Sarang’ for families with infants, ‘Sodam Sodam’ for community meetings, and an ‘Open Lounge’ for general interaction.

Initial programming begins with humanities one-day classes, such as book-related sessions and literary readings. While the learning room opens immediately, other facilities will be rolled out sequentially starting in early November. The pilot phase will be free of charge to allow for operational adjustments, with full paid operations scheduled to commence in January next year. Participation is open to Gwangmyeong citizens as well as those working or operating businesses within the city, regardless of gender.
