Gwangmyeong City concludes 6th annual Peace Week festival

Gwangmyeong City successfully concluded its 6th Peace Week, held from September 18 to 19 at the City Hall grass plaza. Under the theme ‘Connect Gwangmyeong: A Time When Peace Becomes Daily Life,’ the event drew approximately 2,000 citizens.

The festival featured a variety of performances and interactive programs designed to make the concept of peace accessible through play, music, and rest. Highlights included the ‘After-Work Concert with Classic,’ featuring traditional Korean instruments like the haegeum and gayageum, and a citizen-participation festival headlined by singer John Park.

Twelve experiential booths were organized around the themes of ‘My Peace,’ ‘Our Peace,’ and ‘Future Peace.’ Activities included making keychains and plants, promoting businesses for North Korean defectors, experiencing world food and traditional cultures, and learning about Eurasian railway routes. The event aimed to teach families about peace, the environment, and coexistence in a relaxed picnic-style setting.
