Gwangmyeong to reconstruct Chunghun Bridge retaining wall
Gwangmyeong City has announced the commencement of reconstruction work on the retaining wall of the Chunghun Bridge access road, scheduled to begin on the 14th. The project follows a precision safety diagnosis conducted in January, which assigned a ‘D grade’ to the right-side reinforced earth retaining wall, indicating an urgent need for repair and reinforcement.
The reconstruction project, with a total budget of 3.5 billion won, involves the complete demolition of the existing wall and the installation of a new one. The city aims to complete the project by December 2027.
As a result of the safety measures, traffic restrictions will continue. The two right-side lanes toward Anyang and a 120-meter section of the sidewalk on the upper road, along with the use of the lower road, will remain restricted until September of next year. Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won stated that the city will prioritize citizen safety through thorough management and rapid progress to create a safe road environment.
