Gwangyang City launches inaugural Tourism Day to boost regional travel

Gwangyang City and the Gwangyang Tourism Association are launching the inaugural ‘Gwangyang Tourism Day’ from October 16 to 18. The initiative is designed to expand the economic impact of the 22nd Gwangyang Traditional Charcoal Grilled Meat Festival by encouraging visitors to explore the wider region through integrated tourism, accommodation, and dining programs.

To promote local consumption, the organizers are offering special discounted tours, including one-day and two-day, one-night itineraries. These tours connect the festival site with major local landmarks such as the Panorama Walk, Baealdo Waterfront Park, the Yun Dong-ju Memorial House, and Baekunsan Natural Recreation Forest. The one-day tour is priced at 10,000 KRW, while the two-day tour is 24,000 KRW, with both options including transportation, entrance fees, and various experience programs.

Additional events during the period include the ‘Gwangyang Maesil Highball Night,’ a program featuring local plum-based refreshments and performances, as well as stamp tours and partner markets. Applications for the discounted tours are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until October 5.
