Gwangyang Mayor inspects progress of new children's theme park
Gwangyang Mayor Park Seong-hyeon recently inspected the construction progress of a planned family-oriented children's theme park in Hwanggil-dong. The project aims to create a complex cultural space that integrates play, experience, and education, centered around South Korea's first materials science museum.
Key facilities currently under development include:
• The Gwangyang Materials Science Museum, which is 85% complete and will feature science classrooms, children's experience centers, and exhibition halls. • The Jungang Neighborhood Park integrated parking lot, currently at 55% completion, which will provide 302 underground spaces and a plaza connecting the museum and playground. • The Sangsang Playground, currently at 27% completion, which will include indoor and outdoor play areas, a cafe, and multipurpose rooms.
Mayor Park emphasized the importance of linking the park's content with Gwangyang's industrial strengths to provide a unique educational experience. He instructed relevant departments to manage construction processes meticulously to ensure the project is completed without delays, noting that finishing current projects thoroughly is a priority over expanding new ones.
