Gwangyang Panorama Walk attracts thousands in opening weekend
The Panorama Walk, a new landmark located at the summit of Gubongsan Mountain in Gwangyang, has seen significant early interest following its official opening. During its first weekend of operation, 6,011 visitors entered the facility, with total visitors to the observatory area estimated at approximately 10,000.
Designed by world-renowned designer Manuel Monteserin and I&Architects, the structure is a 365-meter-long spiral ramp standing 27 meters high. It offers 360-degree views of the Gwangyang Bay, Yi Sun-sin Bridge, and the POSCO steelworks. The facility features interactive elements such as a glass floor at the ‘Bitmaru’ summit, which allows visitors to look directly below them.
The project is a collaborative effort between Gwangyang City and POSCO, aimed at combining industrial scenery with natural landscapes to boost regional tourism. To manage crowds, visitors can reserve time slots via the ‘MY Gwangyang’ app. POSCO is also supporting the initiative through exhibitions at the POSCO Museum Gwangyang, showcasing the artistic conception and construction process of the landmark.
