Gwen Lagrue departs Mercedes to head Red Bull junior programme
French motorsport executive Gwen Lagrue announced his departure from the Mercedes‑AMG Petronas Formula 1 team after eleven seasons, posting an emotional farewell on social media following the Hungarian Grand Prix. In his message he thanked team principal Toto Wolff and highlighted the drivers he helped develop, including George Russell, Kimi Antonelli, Esteban Ocon, Nyck de Vries, Fred Vesti and Doriane Pin.
Lagrue will join Red Bull Racing in 2027 to take charge of its young‑driver programme, succeeding Helmut Marko, who is set to leave the Austrian outfit at the end of 2025. The move marks a continuation of Lagrue’s career in nurturing future Formula 1 talent, now shifting from Mercedes to Red Bull’s development pipeline.
