Gwent Police investigate biker gang murder in Pontypool

Gwent Police are investigating a violent disturbance in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, that resulted in the death of 56-year-old Anthony ‘Tony’ Jones. The incident, which occurred on August 6, is believed to have involved a clash between rival motorcycle clubs, specifically the Hells Angels and the Vikings.

The brawl reportedly involved approximately 20 individuals armed with weapons, including machetes, leaving two other people hospitalized. In connection with the investigation, a total of 25 men aged between 18 and 73 have been detained for various offences.

A 40-year-old man from the Torfaen area, previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. Police have also located a blue Ford Transit van used in the incident and have tracked down another individual for questioning. Detective Superintendent Laura Bartley stated that the complex investigation has caused substantial disruption to local communities.
