GWM and Land Rover announce new electric and hybrid vehicle models
Automotive manufacturers GWM and Land Rover have announced new developments in the electric and hybrid vehicle sectors.
GWM has introduced the Ora 5 GT, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of its Ora 5 SUV. Registered with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ora 5 GT features a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 156 hp and utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from CATL. The model includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with LiDAR and side cameras, and is expected to feature a redesigned rear profile compared to the standard battery electric version.
Land Rover has released teaser images for the Range Rover GT, which will be the brand's first fully electric model. Scheduled for a 2026 debut, the vehicle is a coupe-style SUV and represents the first product under Jaguar Land Rover's ‘House of Brands’ strategy. The design features a sloping roofline, slim LED headlights, and a distinctive front fascia, marking a significant shift in the brand's lineup as it transitions toward electrification.
