Chinese automakers expand global SUV lineups in multiple markets

Chinese automotive manufacturers are expanding their global presence with new SUV launches across several markets.

GAC has unveiled the S7, a large plug-in hybrid SUV, at the Everything Electric show in Sydney. The vehicle features a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with dual electric motors, offering a combined range of up to 1,020km. GAC is looking to bring the S7 to Australian showrooms following planned right-hand-drive production in late 2027.

Great Wall Motors (GWM) is also increasing its lineup. In New Zealand, the Haval H7 is set to launch in mid-October with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options starting below $50,000. In Chile, the Haval H7 Max has debuted with HEV and PHEV versions starting at $27,490,000 CLP. Additionally, Sazgar Engineering Works announced the Haval H6 GT PHEV in Pakistan, priced at Rs. 12,949,000.

In China, GWM revealed the Tank 300 Hooke Trail, an off-road edition featuring a rigid front axle and a disconnectable stabilizer bar to improve wheel articulation for rugged terrain.
