Gwynt Glas offshore wind farm announces public consultations
The developers of the proposed Gwynt Glas floating offshore wind farm in the Celtic Sea have announced a series of public consultation events for November. The project aims to generate up to 1.5 gigawatts of renewable energy, supporting UK energy security and potentially positioning Wales as a leader in next-generation offshore wind technology.
The upcoming drop-in sessions will focus on onshore works, allowing local residents and businesses to discuss draft proposals, the consenting process, and cable routes. Scheduled events include sessions in Llandyfaelog on November 17, Pembrey on November 18, and Kidwelly on November 19.
Technical plans indicate the project intends to connect to the grid at a National Grid substation near Llandyfaelog using underground export cables. The scoping area for these works covers the Carmarthen Bay coast, stretching from Tenby in the west to Burry Port and Llandyfaelog in the east. Developers have stated that local feedback is vital to ensuring the project respects the local environment and community needs.
